4th International Eliava Summer School on Bacteriophage Research: Hands-On Phage Preparation for Therapeutic Use
The George Eliava Institute of Bacteriophages, Microbiology and Virology is pleased to announce the 4th International Summer School on Bacteriophage Research, which will take place from 14 to 20 May 2026. The program is designed for Master’s students, PhD candidates, and young scientists. The program combines theoretical lectures and practical training, covering essential topics in bacteriophage research from phage isolation and characterization to genome annotation and phage-host interaction studies.
Program Modules:
Module I: Theory / lectures (14th of May) - Lectures will cover principles of bacteriophage biology and therapeutic applications. The list of presenters will be provided later. Genome Annotation (15th -16th of May) - lectures and practical sessions on bacteriophage genome assembly and annotation, with hands-on analysis of participant-provided or instructor-supplied data will be performed under the guidance of Dr. Marie-Agnès Petit (INRAE, France).
Social Event- Wine tour (optional)
Module II: Practical-focused sessions (18th -20th of May): will guide participants through the complete pathway of therapeutic phage preparation - from phage isolation and laboratory characterization to evaluation of efficacy, resistance, and phage–antibiotic interactions.
Practical sessions: Limited to 30 participants
Working language: English
